Did Council Incompetence Flood the City?

The Hull Daily Mail yesterday carried news that five years ago cuts were made to Gully cleaning and repairs which contribute to the worst floods Hull has seen for decades.

Now notice how Carl Minns simply calls for a "full review" rather than his usual trick of "Labour neglect" or whichever soundbite he is now using. I suppose it could be that five years ago it was in fact, the Liberal Democrats who ran Hull and his party which slashed highways funding in their first budget.

I wonder how full his "review" will be, will it be independent and will it appoint blame? Obviously not because his reaction already tells us who that is. There must be some panicking Lib Dems right now because no matter how many criticisms people can throw at the former Labour Council, they never flooded the city!

Yes Bob. Obviously the Council must be responsible for the rain.

Nobody said tbat, but rain alone does not cause floods.

really bobbylad......how niave you are!! you might want to google 'floods' and have a little read - you'll be quite astonished at how wrong you are. cleaning the gullies, etc may have helped if we had NOT have had 2 months worth of rain in 1 day. it is all too easy to point the finger of blame, particularly in the seedy world of politics, but when you through a few facts into the equation it's quite funny as to how mis-directed those fingers are........

Good God Booby just found your log and for your information the cuts in gully cleaning was done during Labours time. Presumably by your mate Gary as he was resposible for Highways. If it had have been the problem I bet he would have loved you and you may well have been well loved by the Lib Dems.No probably not they would be able to trust you.
